Region 3 Ad Sales!
NOTE: Each youth is required to sell AT LEAST 2 full page ads for this book. Youth World participants, you will be required to sell more. Watch for a detailed email to go out to the membership in the next week or so!
The Region 3 Committee publishes a Regional Championship Show Program containing each Affiliate’s information including a calendar of shows and events, plus a list of exhibitors by class at the Region 3 Championship Show. This magazine is considered a "keeper" and a "go to" place when looking for any equine related information.
In a nutshell, the youth association will get a kickback from Region 3 for each new advertiser they sell an ad too. Full page ads sold will earn the association $50/ad and half page ads will get $25. Quarter page and business cards size ads will get a hug....
Please print out and fill out a form for EACH AD you sell. Deadline is June 15.
If you have any questions, please ask Lana or Shannon Wacker.

Qualifying for the World Show!
I’ve had a couple people inquire about the procedures for qualifying for the AQHYA Youth World Show. There are essentially two ways to qualify... 1. Nationally Qualified and 2. State (Affiliate) Qualified. Below is an explanation of the difference.... please contact me with any questions you have. Thanks! ~Lana
EXHIBITOR ELIGIBILITY Youth must be 18 or under as of January 1 of the year of the show in order to participate. In halter and performance halter classes, exhibitors must be at least 9 years of age by January 1 of the year of the show. (All performance classes, including showmanship, will be for all ages 18 and under.) In addition, all exhibitors must be members in good standing of AQHYA as of May 31 of the year of the show whether nationally or affiliate qualified. Any participant in the Ford AQHYAWorld Championship Show will be considered a youth, and these rules will be applicable even though the youth may have reached his/her legal adult age.
NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
All youth who have accumulated the required minimum points in each performance and/or halter event according to AQHA records between May 1 and April 30 will receive national invitations. (Ex: May , 20081 - April 30, 2009 for 2009 World Show). Those youth nationally invited may participate only in those events in which they qualify by AQHA records, except they may represent their AQHYA Affiliate (Minnesota Quarter Horse Association) in other events designated by that affiliate. If a youth qualifies two or more horses nationally in an individual working class (reining, western riding, working cow horse, barrel racing, pole bending, stake race, working hunter, jumping, trail, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, team roping heading and heeling, cutting, team penning and ranch sorting), he/she may exhibit two separate entries. If they qualify
more than one horse in a non-individual working class, both horses can be entered, but one must be scratched prior to the start of the class.
AFFILIATE QUALIFIERS
In addition to national qualifiers, each official AQHYA Affiliate (Minnesota Quarter Horse Association) may send four separate representatives per class or event. Qualifications for each affiliate are governed by that affiliate, including international affiliates. Questions should be directed to the current affiliate youth advisor (Lana Green - 218.530.0159 or myqha@yahoo.com). Affiliate qualifiers must be members of the official AQHYA Affiliate and must be a member of AQHYA by May 31 of the year of the show. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. A youth may represent his or her affiliate on two different horses in an individual working class. Affiliates may designate an unlimited number of alternates. However, all alternates must be listed at the time of entry (when submitted to AQHA by affiliate advisors). No alternate entries may be submitted at the time of the show.
Affiliate representatives may not participate in classes other than those indicated by the AQHYA Affiliate Advisor.
Affiliate representatives must be bona fide residents of the affiliate which they represent.
The Youth World team will be comprised of the four youth earning the highest number of Minnesota Points in each event offered at a qualifying show. These youth will be offered the positions first, if any of them refuse the appointment the next person in line with the next highest points will be offered the position. Points will be accumulated from January 1 thru June 25 of the qualifying year. (If there is a Minnesota Show on June 25, NO POINTS FROM THAT WEEKEND SHOW WILL COUNT TOWARD QUALIFYING).
If you intend to qualify with Minnesota on the youth world team, you must complete a Letter Of Intent and mail it to Lana with the post mark no later than May 1. For a complete breakdown of point tabulations and procedures, please refer to our By Laws.
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP INVITATIONS
All world champions will automatically receive an invitation to next year’s Ford Youth World, provided they meet all age and ownership requirements. Youth will only be invited to compete in the performance class in which their world championship was earned and must exhibit the same horse. In halter, the horse will advance to the class based on the current age. No alternates will be permitted (neither exhibitor nor horse).
